WEEK 3 - HECTIC WEEK ABOUT TO START (18 SEPTEMBER - 22 SEPTEMBER 2023)

My third week doing practicum and I'm about to burn out. Like always, started the Monday with assembly. Nothing really happened this Monday but I just got the information that sports training for the Blue House will be held that evening. The training started at 3.30 PM so we gathered at a closed hall to take attendance first before starting the training for the first time. I bring the boys with me to train for a long jump with Cikgu Hatta. The training started with a jump for the year 4 pupils followed by the year 5 and year 6 pupils. Cikgu Hatta measured the distance of their jumps while I wrote the names of selected students with long jumps to represent Blue House later.

On Tuesday, I helped the teachers handle the winners of Independence Month’s activity that was held during August and September since I didn't have a class on Tuesday. I tried my best to help since there were so many winners and I didn't know how to handle so many pupils at the same time. On this day, I received a new timetable that I will teach PJPK as my minor subject. Starting this week I will teach 5 Cekal and I'm so confused because I never learned how to teach PJPK before. On Wednesday, I once again postponed my class, with no choice because it was the closing of Independence Month. We teachers were asked to wear dresses according to Jalur Gemilang's colours which are blue, red, yellow, and white. All of the teachers looked so stunning on that day with their clothes. I'm impressed with all of their outfits for that day. There are so many competitions on that day for example the most beautiful dress competition and the bicycle decoration competition in conjunction with the month of independence. The school also organizes a parade around the school grounds on that day. Many performances were performed on that day as well. I really like their enthusiasm to participate in activities that are organized by the school.

On Thursday of week 3, I got the chance to teach 6 Kreatif. I was also observed by my mentor for the first time. The observation was done in the first period. The skill that I focused on was listening. For this observation, I use worksheets from Teacher'sFiera and an audio from Youtube. Since all of the classes in SK Sungai Tua Baharu have their own TV, it is so much easier for me to play the audio. I was so nervous while teaching because I felt kind of lacking since I rarely teach them because of the activities held by the school so I needed to postpone my class with them. My pupils can sense that I'm nervous while teaching and they and trying to comfort me. I'm so touched that they are so understandable. I tried my best to conduct the class properly and alhamdulillah the lesson went well even though some of the pupils still didn't give their full attention to the lesson. When my class ended, I approached my mentor and asked her if everything was okay and she said everything was okay. I'm so glad to hear that word despite being nervous while teaching 6 Kreatif. I hope I can do better for my second observation later.

Last day of week 3, I went to the hall early because we would recite the Surah Yassin together. Before I went home, I rearranged and completed my file and lesson plan to submit to our Senior Assistant. I went home after submitting my file and rested before week 4 started.
