WEEK 7 - NEW THINGS (16 OCTOBER - 20 OCTOBER 2023)
Week 7 already. For week 7, I got to experience so many new things. For example, I need to teach Science subject to year 6 pupils. At first, I doubted my skills because its been so many years since I left school and learned about Science. But I'm impressed with how the lesson went so smoothly. This is so funny because I got to teach another class and another subject rather than teaching 6 Kreatif. There is also sports training for year 4 and year 5 pupils while year 6 have to go to their religious school for exam preparation. I trained pupils to run for 100m and record their time for the selection of athletes who will represent the sports house on the sports day.
The next day, the school held a launch party for My Planetarium. This activity is organized by the teachers of the science committee. The students were very excited when it launched. After the launch, year 6 pupils needed to stay at the hall because they were having an admission lecture to MRSM next year. Once again, my lesson with 6 Kreatif was postponed. This week, I got so many relief classes and I enjoyed it because I can do so many games with them such as Simon Says and Word Search. I also teach them to sing a song to solidify their pronunciation.
For this week I only got the chance to teach 6 Kreatif for once. For this lesson, I focused on Reading skills. I introduced the students to a new unit which is Unit 5: Getting Around. I did a reading activity using a textbook. The students had to read a story about time-traveling. Personally, I think the lesson piqued their interest because the theme of the story is an adventure. Kids really do love this kind of story. I tried to elicit some of their understanding of time travel by asking what time-traveling movies they knew of to get them a better understanding of what was happening in the story. I think the lesson was fun since the students interacted a lot with what they knew about the theme. It is good to know they have a creative mind and I should definitely utilize it for future lessons to create effective learning.
Cute gift from 4 DLP kids <3
