TEACHER FATIN'S JOURNEY AT SK SUNGAI TUA BAHARU

     This week is the last week of my practicum. For this week, I just spent my day teaching 6 Kreatif for one day only because like always there is so much activity going on in this school. So I need to postpone my class but for this week I can't postpone it again since it was my last week here ;( My heart felt so heavy to leave the school. The environment of this school is so comfortable with such friendly teachers who consider me as their own family member. I felt so grateful for the experience I got in this school. I would like to say an experience I will never forget.      On my last day, I was invited to speak for the last time in front of the teacher and the pupils after Yassin's recitation. In that speech, I am grateful to the teachers who gave me words of encouragement and advice during my time at this school, especially my mentor Kak Liza.      For this week, I did my observation with my mentor for the second time on the 29th of November. I focused on reading skills and writing as complementary skills. I played a vocabulary game with them in which they needed to come in front and take a vocabulary from the mystery box then try to match it with the meaning on the whiteboard. I picked the pupils randomly using my Bahan Bantu Mengajar (BBM) which is an ice cream stick that has my pupil's names on it. I'm glad that they enjoyed the game. Then for the lesson development, I asked them to read an Article out loud together and ask them a few questions to make sure that they do understand the context of the article they read. For the exercise, I gave them an exercise that related to the article. For the post-lesson, we had a little discussion on the moral value of the lesson. The lesson went well and my mentor praised me for the effort. She also said I did a great job even though I rarely teach them.   ...

     For this week I would like to say there is not much going on because I only spend my time doing preparation for sports day on Sunday. I was assigned to work on decoration for Perbarisan with my co-practicum partner, Ainun Sofeya. We spend the week doing the decoration with the help of other teachers and pupils who are not involved in anything. One of my 6 Kreatif kids gave me cheesekut! Thank you Arfah >33333 I have been craving this for a very long time.      The most waiting day for SK Sungai Tua Baharu's pupils and teachers has finally come which is Temasya Kejohanan Sukan Tahunan. All of us were excited for this day after a week of doing the preparation. The day started with the march in from the contingent of the sports house. After the march was over, the field event for 100M, 200M, and 4x100 started.      For this week, there really is nothing much to talk about since the school was on holiday from Monday until Tuesday, celebrating Deepavali. On Wednesday, I did a speaking activity with 6 Kreatif which they need to talk about traveling for 1 minute. They did pretty well but some of them still need guidance from the teacher on how to arrange the sentences while speaking. On Thursday, I needed to postpone my class since 6 Kreatif were having a word scramble activity with Teacher Rohana for their English month activity. I play the scramble with 6 Kreatif. It was quite fun to play along with your pupils. On Friday, I did a reading activity with them which they needed to read the text and answer the questions according to the text they read before.       I finally can have a chill week after going through such a hectic week with so many activities in one day. I can finally arrange my file after being left to dust for weeks. I didn't have class on Monday because of the assembly. So I just completed my lesson plan for the whole day. I also didn't have any relief class on Monday. I'm so glad because I can finally rest. The next day, I had a PJ class with 5 Cekal. We played hockey together. For your information, hockey is one of my favorite sports >.<     On Wednesday, I have a class with 6 Kreatif. In this lesson, I focused on grammar skills which is adjectives and comparison of adjectives. I gave them notes about adjectives and asked them a few questions about adjectives.       For this week, the school have launched the week for Solidarity Palestine. This program was launched to spread the awareness on what is happening to the people in Palestine 🇵🇸 WE STAND WITH PALESTINE 🇵🇸       On Monday, I came early and prepared prizes for the winners that joined actively on the fitness month. There’s so many prizes and winners. Because of the gift giving ceremony took so long to finished, I need to postpone my Monday’s lesson with 6 Kreatif.      On Thursday, I went to the field together with year 6 pupils because they have a sports program.      I called this week a sukantara week because the sukantara was held for one week straight. The kids were so excited waiting for their turn. There’s so many pupils joined the sukantara especially year 4 pupils. They were the most excited one because it was their first experience ever joining this kind of activity. There’s also Kem Bestari Solat held by teachers from Panitia Pendidikan Islam.       On Wednesday, I have a lesson with 6 Kreatif and i focused on Speaking skills. For this lesson they were asked to create a dialogue with their friends on how they come to school with then present it in front with their pair. From this activity they can also know better about their friends. They did pretty well on the dialogue but I still need to guide some of them.      Week 7 already. For week 7, I got to experience so many new things. For example, I need to teach Science subject to year 6 pupils. At first, I doubted my skills because its been so many years since I left school and learned about Science. But I'm impressed with how the lesson went so smoothly. This is so funny because I got to teach another class and another subject rather than teaching 6 Kreatif. There is also sports training for year 4 and year 5 pupils while year 6 have to go to their religious school for exam preparation. I trained pupils to run for 100m and record their time for the selection of athletes who will represent the sports house on the sports day.       The next day, the school held a launch party for My Planetarium.      This week, all of my students didn't attend school because they needed to attend their PSRA examination. They are all year 6 students and had to attend their PSRA examination, their religious school major examination, all week. Sadly, I can't continue my lesson with my 6 Kreatif pupils. I need to postpone my lesson again. For the rest of the week, year 6 pupils who didn't take the PSRA examination were asked to sit in the same class for 1 week straight. We only opened 2 classes which are class A and class B. I needed to take over class B for English subject but I just did a simple grammar exercise with them since most were from lower class. For the rest of the week teaching class B I felt like handling such a small classroom was much easier and more fun than I imagined. It was easier to control and interact with. It was definitely a good experience because I had never taught in a small classroom before. On week 6, pupils from year 5 were having their traditional game...

     After the camping ended, I had a fever and flu for the whole week. I was very sick the whole week but I managed to get through the week without sick leave. Actually, I have a story behind it, I went to the clinic because it kept getting worse day by day but the doctor forgot to give me the MC letter. I only survive with the medicine given by the doctor without any rest.       Week 5 also has so many events going on. On Monday morning, there is the launching of the Science Month ceremony and assembly while in the evening, I need to attend sports training for the second time as an assistant head of the sports house. On Tuesday, nothing is going on and I just have a PJ class with 5 Cekal since I don't have a class with 6 Kreatif on Tuesday. I'm so tired of handling 5 Cekal with their chaotic behavior.      Here it comes, the most hectic week since my practicum started. Everyday routines, I went to the school office to clock in my attendance. Monday’s assembly like always. Then, there is a meeting for students who participate in the camp at Nur Laman Bestari Ulu Yam. There's nothing much going on from Monday to Wednesday in week 4 but it's started getting busier starting on Thursday when we were actually on school holidays for Maulidur Rasul but me and Ainun Sofeya need to work on our holidays. Me and Ainun Sofeya need to leave the house at 7 am to go to the Nakhoda Mosque to prepare for the pupil’s procession in conjunction with the celebration of the Maulidur Rasul. We also followed the parade around the Kampung Nakhoda with the students and teachers who were present on that day representing SK Sungai Tua Baharu.      My third week doing practicum and I'm about to burn out. Like always, started the Monday with assembly. Nothing really happened this Monday but I just got the information that sports training for the Blue House will be held that evening. The training started at 3.30 PM so we gathered at a closed hall to take attendance first before starting the training for the first time. I bring the boys with me to train for a long jump with Cikgu Hatta. The training started with a jump for the year 4 pupils followed by the year 5 and year 6 pupils. Cikgu Hatta measured the distance of their jumps while I wrote the names of selected students with long jumps to represent Blue House later.      On Tuesday, I helped the teachers handle the winners of Independence Month’s activity that was held during August and September since I didn't have a class on Tuesday.      In my second week, SK Sungai Tua Baharu started the new week with an assembly on Monday morning. After the assembly was over, I went to 6 Kreatif because my class with them was right after the assembly ended. I conducted the class with Topic 4 which is Cool Jobs because my lovely 6 Kreatif pupils said that they are still learning the topic. 6 Kreatif are so loud and talkative. I almost lost my voice trying my best to control the class. I realized that I'm still bad at controlling the class. I really need to work on class control and voice projection. After the class ended, I asked my practicum partner (Ainun Sofeya) to have breakfast at the canteen with me because I'm so hungryyyy. Before school ended, 2 pupils from 6 Kreatif approached me at my table and asked me if I could help them prepare for their pentomin’s competition since they didn't have a teacher to guide them.
